Investigation Sparked After Inmates Post Music Video from Michigan Prison

An investigation has been sparked at Michigan's Macomb Correctional Facility after two inmates filmed a rap video that was posted on YouTube.

The video shows one of the inmates on a cell phone, which is prohibited in prisons. Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz addressed the incident, stating, "It’s incredibly dangerous [to have phones inside state prisons], especially with capability of getting onto the internet because they can be used to arrange escapes, harass witnesses, or place ‘hits’ on people inside or outside the prison."

Gautz added that the inmates were identified and put in solitary confinement amid the investigation. Prison officials think the video was shot in September and released in recent weeks.
