Sir Elton John has accused Janet Jackson of lip-syncing and said he would rather see a drag queen than her.The outspoken singer can't understand why the Together Again star attracts so much praise for her concerts because he doesn't thinks she sings live.

He fumed: "You know, f**king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, 'This is the greatest show - four and a half stars.'

"It's f**king lip-synced! Hello! That's not a show! I'd rather go and see a drag queen. F**k off."

In 2003, Elton, 68, made similar criticisms toward Madonna, but admits he "probably went too far" with his comments, so wrote to her to apologise and she "graciously" accepted.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: "I say what I feel. I probably went too far with Madonna, and I got very personal and I wrote her - she was very gracious."

But the Your Song singer has no regrets for calling out his friend and sometime touring partner Billy Joel for his heavy drinking.

He said: "He's one of the great American songwriters. But I know when people used to say to me, 'You're wasting your life,' I'd go, 'Fk off!' and I wouldn't speak to them for two years.

"Billy was p***ed, and I understand. But does it mean I don't love him? No, of course not."
