Fabolous "For The Love" Copyright Lawsuit Decision Announced

The rapper was sued over the "Soul Tape 2" cut.

The lawsuit claiming Fabolous stole a sample for "For The Love" has been dismissed, The Jasmine Brand reports.
A judge ruled that Herman Kelly could not provide adequate proof that he owned the song "Try To Leave Me If You Can," which was reportedly sampled by the New York rapper on his "For The Love" song, which appeared on Fabolous' Soul Tape 2The song was also featured on the Brooklyn rapper's Soul Collection album, which included songs from each installment of the Soul Tape trilogy.

Kelly said he was not asked permission for the use of the sample and was not compensated for it. He said that he has lost money from his original song because of the sample. He continues that Fabolous purposely distorted "Try To Leave Me If You Can" so that it would not be recognizable.
