Raekwon Would Like To Do A Wu-Tang Biopic

N.W.A.‘s recently released biopic “Straight Outta Compton” has garnered much attention in the past few weeks. With momentous hype surrounding the flick prior to release, along with a heavy marketing campaign, the film has remained atop the box office for the second week in a row, grossing more than $111 Million domestically thus far. Since then, there has been a rumor that a sequel is in the works, chronicling the beginnings of Snoop Dogg,Nate Dogg and the rest of the Dogg Pound. Universal pictures has gone on to the deny the rumor, but the success of SOC has perked the interest into other Hip-Hop based biographical films.

During the launch of his Diadora N.9000 collaborative shoe with Packer Shoes a few days ago, Raekwon The Chef caught up with Hot 97 and shared his admiration of the N.W.A. film but also gave his thoughts on a potential Wu-Tang film.
When we make a Wu movie, bet your ass its gonna be serious. Because we gotta tell the truth. And I think that’s what I love about the Straight Outta Compton movie is that they told the truth. When we do get to that level and it happens, it has to be the real story. It’s gonna be an interesting one, cause I said – RZA hit the lotto one day. He knew who he had, but he didn’t know what he had. So let’s keep it right there.
Similar to N.W.A., The Wu-Tang Clan played an integral role in the popularity of Hip-Hop, while having well documented internal drama as well. Drama which continues to play out to this day.
